VSL#3® should be kept refrigerated. However, it can be stored at room temperature (77°F) for up to two weeks without having a major effect on potency. If it is left at room temperature for longer periods of time or exposed to excessive heat, the number of beneficial bacteria in VSL#3® can become greatly reduced.
If unopened and stored under refrigeration (36-46°F or 2-8°C), VSL#3® probiotics are guaranteed through the “Best if used by” date labeled on the packaging.
All formulations of VSL#3® do not contain milk/dairy.
The term medical food, as defined in section 5(b) of the Orphan Drug Act (21 U.S.C. 360ee (b) (3)) is “a food which is formulated to be consumed or administered enterally under the supervision of a physician and which is intended for the specific dietary management of a disease or condition for which distinctive nutritional requirements, based on recognized scientific principles, are established by medical evaluation.” If you wish to learn more, please go to the FDA website link below. In addition, all medical foods’ ingredients should either be approved as a food additive by the FDA, or have GRAS (generally recognized as safe), which confirms that the ingredients have been used in the general population and have been generally recognized as safe to consume.

VSL#3® can be consumed with or mixed in cold water or a cold, non-carbonated beverage, or a cold food, such as yogurt or apple sauce. VSL#3® products should not be mixed with hot beverages or hot foods as high heat inactivates the live bacteria found in the product. Please refer to your health care provider for specific instructions when taking VSL#3®.
Starting on March 1, 2023, the Medical Food Probiotic VSL#3® is promoted and distributed by Actial Nutrition, Inc., the US subsidiary of the owner and global manufacturer of the VSL#3® line of products. Actial Nutrition will be supporting patients and Health Care Providers going forward.

In order to adhere to quality assurance standards, we do not accept returns of our products. There are no refunds or replacements unless the claim is related to a problem with the order that is determined to be our error. We cannot guarantee a delivery date; however, almost all of our orders deliver within 3 days of shipment.
For your package’s projected delivery date, please find the tracking number sent to the email associated with your order. If you have issues or did not receive one, please reach out to customer service.

Our packages use gel packs and thermal liners (insulating material) that have gone through thermal testing for various temperatures and transit times. Depending on your order characteristics, our packaging layout is adapted to maintain the desired temperature range.
